SAVANNAH, Ga., May 12, 2008 – General Dynamics
Aviation Services is expanding its Dallas Service Center
by leasing a hangar from Signature Flight Support, a
BBA Aviation company. Terms of the agreement were not
disclosed.
The 47,200-square-foot addition will house maintenance
operations for the large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream
G200. Two existing and adjacent General Dynamics Aviation
Services hangars at Dallas Love Field service other large-cabin
Gulfstream aircraft as well as Falcon, Challenger and
Hawker business-jet aircraft.
“This expansion further demonstrates the strength of our commitment to
our customers in providing the very best in service and support,” said
Larry Flynn, president, General Dynamics Aviation Services. “It also
reflects the growth General Dynamics Aviation Services has experienced in the
seven years since it was launched.”
The addition, which includes 31,000 square feet of hangar
capacity and 16,200 square feet of shop and office space,
boosts the company’s Dallas footprint to nearly
170,000 square feet. The extra room means the facility
can handle eight additional aircraft. It also enhances
the company’s refurbishment capabilities. In 2007,
the General Dynamics Aviation Services Dallas facility
serviced 2,652 aircraft.
The Dallas location employs some 870 people who test,
maintain and inspect aircraft; fabricate parts; refurbish
interiors; install avionics and carry out supplemental
type certificates. The expansion is expected to result
in an incremental increase in employment.
