General Dynamics Aviation Services Appoints Gary Dempsey Vice President

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Gary Dempsey has been promoted to vice president of operations, General Dynamics Aviation Services. In this new position, he has overall operating responsibility for the company's five service center locations - Dallas, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Westfield, Mass. In addition to facility oversight, Dempsey will be responsible for the company's over-the-counter parts business, which includes Challenger, Falcon, Hawker, Gulfstream and Westwind parts sales.

"For the past three years, Dempsey has been instrumental in the growth of the company's service and parts business," said Larry Flynn, president, General Dynamics Aviation Services. "His strong leadership style, good decision-making ability and complete understanding of the aircraft service business from the ground up have made him the best candidate for this position."

Previously, Dempsey was director of service center operations for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, Ga. Both Gulfstream and General Dynamics Aviation Services fall under General Dynamics' Aerospace Group.

Dempsey has led aircraft manufacturing customer service teams for the past 20 years. Before joining Gulfstream in 1999, he worked for Raytheon Aircraft Services in Tampa, Fla., where he managed the company's flagship aircraft service center. Prior to that, he served as service center manager for Hangar One/Beechcraft at Atlanta Fulton County Airport. He also worked as a field service manager for multi-engine aircraft for Cessna Aircraft Company. Dempsey began his aviation career as an apprentice mechanic and electrician specialist at Capital Airways.

A graduate of Wilmington College in Wilmington, Del., Dempsey earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in aviation management. He is a licensed airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanic with Federal Aviation Administration inspection authorization. Dempsey also is a multi-engine/single-engine pilot with instrument rating.
